Content creator Peller is turning heads and sparking debates after revealing why he splashed out on a Mercedes Benz AMG for his girlfriend, Jarvis, while gifting a seemingly modest car to his mother.

The TikToker, who recently reunited with Jarvis after a breakup, surprised her with the luxury ride, claiming that giving a girlfriend a car sends a stronger “rich flex” than buying one for your mom.
Speaking during a live stream, Peller broke down the logic behind his choices. His mother had asked for a Toyota worth about ₦9 million, mainly because it’s cheaper to maintain. Instead, Peller upgraded her gift to a Hyundai reportedly valued at ₦20 million.
“Being rich is not about what you buy for yourself or even for your mummy. If you buy something for your mummy, people will say it’s pity money because she raised you,” Peller said. “Buying a car for your girlfriend is the ultimate way to show people you’re rich. Ordinary small car for my baby… I love my baby o!”
He added that sticking strictly to his mother’s request might have attracted criticism. “If I had bought exactly what she wanted, people would’ve dragged me online. This way, everyone sees the flex,” he explained.
Peller’s comments have sparked mixed reactions online. Some applaud his generosity, while others question the logic of equating love and wealth displays with material gifts.
