IBBUL 300-Level Student Reportedly Dies After Rent Money Dispute

 


Tragic incident was reported  involving a 300-level student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), Niger State.

According to reports, the student had collected ₦600,000 as house rent on behalf of a landlord. The money was allegedly used for betting, where it was lost. When the landlord later requested the rent payment, the student was reportedly unable to provide the funds.

Following the confrontation, the student was said to have taken his own life.

The incident has left fellow students and members of the university community in deep shock, reigniting conversations around financial pressure, gambling addiction, and mental health challenges among young people.

As of the time of filing this report, university authorities and relevant agencies are yet to release an official statement, while investigations are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.

This tragic loss serves as a painful reminder of the need for stronger mental health awareness, financial responsibility education, and accessible support systems for students facing distress.
