Boko Haram Fighters Storm Kukawa Military Camp in Midnight Attack
According to reports reaching BuzzVaultNG, suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched a coordinated midnight attack on Kukawa town in Borno State, targeting a military base in the area.
Security sources say the assault began around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, when the attackers advanced into the town from several directions before heading straight for the military camp.
During the intense raid, soldiers at the base were reportedly forced to withdraw temporarily, allowing the terrorists to overrun the camp. The insurgents allegedly set several military vehicles ablaze and carted away weapons from the facility.
By the time daylight broke, the attackers had already fled the area.
Troops later returned to the base to regain control, where they discovered burned vehicles and some missing arms.
This latest incident marks the second attack on Kukawa within a month. In a similar assault back in February, Nigerian troops successfully repelled the insurgents and killed several fighters.
The lawmaker representing Kukawa Local Government Area in the Borno State House of Assembly, Karta Maina Ma’aji Lawan, has confirmed the latest attack.
