For years, Nicki Minaj has been known as one of the boldest voices in music fearless, outspoken, and unapologetically herself. But recently, her voice has extended beyond rap lyrics and into politics, faith, and social debates. And according to her, this shift wasn’t sudden. It was something she felt coming long before fame ever found her.
In a revealing interview, Nicki shared that growing up, she always believed she had a second assignment in life. Long before platinum records and sold-out arenas, she felt God had placed another calling on her heart. She used to tell people she had “another job to do,” even at a time when her music career was uncertain. In fact, she says she felt that even if rap didn’t work out, there was still something greater waiting for her. At one point, she even joked that maybe she would end up starting a church, playfully calling her husband a “pastor.” But beneath the laughter was a deep conviction that her platform would eventually be used for more than entertainment.
That inner feeling stayed with her.

Nicki says the moment that truly pushed her into speaking out came during the last U.S. presidential campaign. Like many Americans, she was watching the political climate closely. But what struck her most wasn’t just policy debates or party lines. It was the treatment of former President Donald Trump. She described watching him face constant criticism and feeling something personal stir inside her.

“When I saw how he was being treated over and over, I just couldn’t handle it,” she said.
To Nicki, it felt familiar. As one of the most talked-about women in entertainment, she has faced years of scrutiny, online backlash, and public criticism. She says watching Trump endure intense attacks reminded her of her own experiences in the spotlight. What she saw didn’t feel political to her it felt like bullying. And that, she explains, is what made it personal.
Rather than rely on headlines or social media narratives, Nicki decided to seek clarity directly. She revealed that she briefly spoke with Trump during the campaign and used the opportunity to ask him questions that mattered to her and her global fan base. As an artist with millions of supporters from different communities, she said she felt responsible for understanding his positions firsthand before forming an opinion.
She asked him directly about the LGBTQ+ community, about Jewish people, and about women’s rights. According to her, his responses were calm, thoughtful, and sincere. She said he didn’t sound rehearsed or overly polished. Instead, he answered her questions in a way that felt natural and honest.
“He didn’t feel like he was trying to say something just to sound good,” she explained. “He answered like we were friends from 25 years ago.”
Nicki said the conversation made her feel comfortable and respected. More importantly, she felt that he respected her diverse audience and understood the responsibility she carries as a public figure.
Faith, she added, also plays a major role in her perspective. Religious freedom is an issue she considers important, and she believes people should have the right to practice their beliefs without fear or pressure. For her, stepping into political conversations wasn’t about joining a party it was about standing on principles she feels strongly about.
She also addressed one of the most sensitive cultural debates today. Nicki made it clear that she does not judge adults for the choices they make in their personal lives. She said she supports adults having the freedom to live as they choose. However, she expressed concern when it comes to minors making permanent medical decisions before reaching adulthood. Using cosmetic surgery as an example, she pointed out that most parents would not allow their teenage children to undergo procedures because their minds and bodies are still developing. For her, the issue is about protecting children and allowing them to mature before making life-altering decisions.
Throughout the conversation, Nicki returned to one central theme: purpose. She reflected on how criticism and pressure can sometimes push a person into their next phase of growth. In her words, “Sometimes people push you so much that they push you into your next calling… into your next blessing.”
She believes that what she has faced in her own career and what she witnessed during the campaign forced her to stop being silent. This, she says, is not about abandoning music or seeking controversy. It is about stepping into something she has felt destined for since she was young.
Whether fans agree with her views or not, Nicki Minaj’s message is clear: she believes she is answering a calling that has been on her heart for years. For her, speaking out is not about politics alone. It is about conviction, faith, and standing up when something feels personal.
And in this chapter of her life, she has chosen not to stay quiet.
