Swift Strike, Safe Return: Troops Rescue Kidnap Victim, Nab Suspects in Benue Operation

In a strong show of precision and urgency, troops under Operation WHIRL STROKE have recorded major success in a series of intelligence-driven operations across parts of Benue State  bringing relief to communities and hope to families.

According to reports reaching BuzzVaultNG, the operations, carried out on March 24, 2026, targeted criminal hideouts and kidnapping networks troubling local areas.

Security forces, acting on credible intelligence, moved into Mbapa and Mbabuande communities in Gwer West Local Government Area, where suspected armed herders were reportedly operating. Troops deployed from Bilawa-Jor and Naka quickly stormed the area, uncovering an abandoned hideout believed to have been used by criminals.

The operation didn’t stop there.


“Two suspects arrested during intelligence-led clearance operations in Benue State, now in custody.”

As troops continued their sweep across River Akpako, they successfully arrested two suspects, who are now in custody and undergoing further investigation.

A Life Saved in Katsina-Ala

In a separate but related operation the same day, troops responded swiftly to reports of a kidnapping incident in Tse-Ubena village, Katsina-Ala Local Government Area.


“Rescued and reunited: 28-year-old Mrs. Member Ityavber after gaining freedom from her abductors.”

Working alongside the Benue State Civil Protection Guard, security operatives carried out a coordinated raid on a suspected hideout. Their efforts paid off  28-year-old Mrs. Member Ityavber, who had been kidnapped, was rescued alive.

She has since received medical attention, been debriefed, and safely reunited with her family.

Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate.

Commending the troops for their bravery and professionalism, the Force Commander of Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Gara, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

He stressed the importance of maintaining security, especially as communities gear up for the farming season, a critical time for many families in the region.

This successful operation highlights the growing impact of intelligence-led security efforts  and a renewed push to keep communities safe from criminal threats.
