Boko Haram Releases Video Showing 416 Abducted Women, Children Begging Tinibu For Help In Borno

A disturbing video has emerged showing 416 abducted women and children from Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, pleading with the Nigerian government to secure their release.

The footage, reportedly released by terrorists belonging to Boko Haram’s Jama’atu Ahlis-Sunna Lidda’Awati Wal-Jihad (JAS) faction, shows the captives seated on the ground in an open area while armed insurgents stand around them. Some of the gunmen covered their faces, while others appeared without masks, holding sophisticated weapons.

The video was said to have been recorded following a request by a group identified as the Borno South Youths Alliance, which demanded proof that the abducted persons were still alive amid ongoing negotiations.

In the footage, one of the insurgents, speaking in Hausa through a loudspeaker, introduced the group and addressed Nigerian authorities. He claimed the victims were alive and in good condition, adding that they had not been harmed.

After the message, the captives were asked to speak. A spokesperson for the abducted group confirmed they were residents of Ngoshe and said they were alive along with their children and elders. The speaker added that some injured persons had received treatment and that basic food, clothing and shelter had been provided.

However, the victims made an emotional appeal to the Nigerian government, urging authorities to meet the insurgents’ demands so they could regain their freedom and return home.

The development has renewed concerns over insecurity in Borno State, as families of the abducted victims await urgent intervention from the government.
