A wave of fear has swept through Eruku town in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State after terrorists stormed a branch of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), killing three worshippers and abducting several others, including the pastor.
The attack took place on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, during a church meeting. According to witnesses, the gunmen burst into the building without warning and immediately opened fire, forcing worshippers to flee in panic.
Three members of the congregation were shot dead on the spot. An unspecified number of people were then rounded up at gunpoint and marched into the forest.
One community source said:
“They came in suddenly and started shooting. Three people died instantly. They took others with them, but we still don’t know how many.”
The attackers were said to have escaped through bush paths that link Eruku to neighbouring communities — an area already known for its difficult terrain and security challenges.
This incident occurred only minutes after another coordinated assault on the town by heavily armed terrorists, which forced residents and travellers to run into surrounding bushes for safety.
Local security agencies have yet to release an official statement, and the number of abducted victims remains unclear as search efforts continue.
