NELFUND Alerts Students Over Fake Loan Registration Portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a strong warning to students and the general public after a fake message began circulating online, falsely claiming that the NELFUND Student Loan Registration Portal is now open.

According to the agency, the misleading message directs unsuspecting applicants to a third-party link — a link NELFUND has confirmed is completely unauthorised and fraudulent.

In a post shared on its official X handle on Tuesday, NELFUND urged Nigerians not to click the fake link, submit personal details, or engage with the message in any way. The Fund stressed that all legitimate information and updates about the student loan programme will only be announced through its verified website and social media platforms.

NELFUND also appealed to students to stay vigilant online and to report any suspicious messages pretending to be from the agency.

“Applicants are encouraged to always verify official announcements via NELFUND’s official website and social media channels,” the agency reiterated.

This warning comes as part of NELFUND’s ongoing effort to protect students from online scams and maintain the integrity of the student loan application process.
