International rap superstar Nicki Minaj has sparked global conversation after addressing what she described as escalating attacks on Christians in Nigeria during a speech at the United Nations.
Minaj, whose real name is Onika Maraj-Petty, used her platform to call for urgent international attention, emphasizing that the issue goes beyond politics and speaks directly to human dignity.
During her remarks, she thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for “prioritizing the matter on the global stage,” before painting a painful picture of the alleged experiences of Christians across parts of Nigeria.
She highlighted reports of people being targeted, displaced, and k!lled, with homes destroyed and entire communities living in fear simply because of their religious identity.
According to her, churches have been burnt, families torn apart, and many believers struggle daily just to stay alive.
Minaj stressed that the world must respond, insisting this is not about choosing sides:
“Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about division. it’s about humanity. Nigeria is a beautiful country with strong faith traditions… and many amazing fans I can’t wait to meet someday. We saw the threats clearly and we cannot pretend they don’t exist.”
Her comments have triggered widespread reactions online, drawing renewed global attention to issues of religious freedom and security in Nigeria. Many observers are now calling for strengthened international cooperation to address what Minaj describes as a deepening humanitarian crisis.
